CVRTC History

 

Since its formation in 1965 the Club has been catering for lorry and road haulage enthusiasts and now can boast a current membership of some 400, most of whom live in the United Kingdom. Whilst most of the members are actively engaged in the road haulage industry there are some who are interested enthusiasts with no professional involvement.

 

Indoor meetings are held monthly in Coventry and from time to time in London, Bristol and Bolton at which members are invited to contribute to the programme as well as meeting others with similar interests. Members are encouraged to arrange meetings in their own vicinity.

 

Our annual extravaganza of lorries and trucking "The Classic Commercial Motor Show" is now being presented by the Heritage Motor Centre and Kelsey Publishing renamed as the "Classic and Vintage Commercial Show" the venue is unchanged at Gaydon and knowledgeable club members are still involved in its organisation. The format is unchanged with the  aim of including some of the very oldest lorries still in existence alongside some of the latest registrations. In order that members and visitors can make their comparisons As well as the full sized exhibits, there is a Model Truck Show with exhibitors from all over the country taking part. In addition there are many traders of spares, photographs, paintings, books, videos, models etc..
